Water

Water: Our bodies are born with 80% and die with 50%.

We can’t live without it for more than 3-5 days, depending on how hot it is.

How much, when, and what type are extremely important when we drink it. Drinking about 8 cups/day is the commonly accepted.

And it needs to be clean.  The drinking water choices at Bali Silent Retreat are:

  1. Reverse Osmosis
  2. Solar distilled + remineralized
  3. Holy Water from Batu Karu temple, high on the mountain that’s been filtered

According to www.water.org, 780,00,000 people don’t have access to clean water. The Special Edition on Water by National Geographic from April, 2010 is still a favorite piece to  read at our library on the 3rd level at Bali Silent Retreat, where folks relax and read and eat. It states that to raise a cow requires almost 7,000 liters of water and 1,700 liters for a chicken.(We’re vegetarian at Bali Silent Retreat – no conflict of interest here.) National Geographic speculates that by 2050 a third of the people on Earth may lack a clean, secure source of water. Check it out: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2010/04/table-of-contents/

How does having clean water affect you, if you’re a guest at Bali Silent Retreat?

We’re located

  • at the top,
  • at the source,
  • at the beginning of water as they say in Bali, at Mt. Batu Karu.

There’s not much above us, but a few rice fields. In dry season, when water tables are low in Ubud and down to zero near Kuta, we’re still in abundance; which is what we’re about – abundance of water, spirit, yoga, meditation, vegetables, and delicious healthy food . . . and yes, Silence!

But we still take precautions for clean water:  The drinking water choices at Bali Silent Retreat are:

  1. Reverse Osmosis
  2. Solar distilled + remineralized
  3. Holy Water from Batu Karu temple, high on the mountain that’s been filtered
